KITCHENS
A Feast for the Senses on so many levels!
Kitchens and bathrooms hold a special place in my heart. They are the hardest working spaces in the house and need to be highly functional and visually appealing at the same time. A small kitchen will require a rigorous assessment to make the most out of every square inch of space, while in larger kitchens the incorporation of multiple appliances requires a new approach to the spatial design.
In lieu of one work triangle formed between sink, fridge, and stove, a logical sequence of different work zones needs to be adapted to the clients and their home. After all, gone are the days when it was just Mom working in the kitchen - with children and partners being equally involved in the meal preparation these days, we want to avoid the aggravating 'butt-rub' factor and allow for 'secondary escape routes'.
I was honoured to have been involved in the design and realization of a wide array of different styles and sizes of kitchens. Classic white, traditional, transitional, contemporary, organic, West Coast, Southwestern, Hacienda-style, 70s era chic, eclectic – what unites my designs are a thoughtful blend of materials and details, the practicality of each space and its elevated position as the true Heart of the Home.
