PERDIDA was the most amazing little round ball of black fluff. Born in the Yucatan area of Mexico, we rescued this tiny little creature from the busy streets of Merida on the last morning of our vacation.
When she died at only 10 years of age due to cancer, Klaus and I were utterly heart-broken. I had just come out of my own year of hell after cancer surgery, and was not prepared to lose her so soon. I never thought of myself as an illustrator, but the only way I was able to work through my grief was by pouring all my love for her into this little book, where Perdida and I both tell the story of how she grew to become the best feline Ambassador our quaint little neighbourhood street ever had.
Follow us on the wild ride that was her rescue - a heart pounding adventure that includes a bomb alarm at the Cancun airport and our first ever (and only) ride in a limousine.

HENNY the Tough Chick
It took me over a year after diagnosis and treatment to be able to deal with the trauma that is cancer.
So far, I have been fairly lucky, and I am counting my blessings. I belong to a FB support group called the Tough Chicks, and between the stories that are being shared by the women in this group and my own experiences, I developed a seriers of illustrations based around the character of Henny the tough Chick, which are meant to explain to caregivers, family, and friends what it means to go through diagnosis, treatment, and aftermath of this dangerous disease.
Henny has her own FB page and IG presence, but she is not active at the moment. I'm still working on a book idea for her.
